英語中"兩"的表達法

英語中能夠表示"兩"的詞語很多，但其含義各不相同，實際用法各有千秋。現將"兩" 的各個表達 形式歸納如下：
(一) Both表示"倆；兩者；雙方"，有強調意義，要重讀。
Eg. Both sides of the paper were covered with writing.
這張紙兩面都寫滿了字。
Eg. I can do it both ways.
兩種方法我都能做。
(二) two，twice表示數量、次數 "兩；再次"。
Eg. There is an interval of ten minutes between two classes．
兩節課間隔十分鐘。
Eg. I have been to the countryside twice.
我去過農村兩次。
(三) couple, a couple of表示"一對；一雙；三兩個"。
Eg. The young couple get along quite happily．
小兩口過得挺和美。
Eg. a couple of years
兩三年
Eg. Let"t leave it for a couple of days．
這事過兩三天再說。
(四) double表示"雙倍的；雙重的；兩用的"。
Eg. We can"t pay double of this amount．
我們不能付雙倍的數目。
Eg. a double advantage
一舉兩得
Eg. A couch performs a double service.
躺椅可以坐臥兩用。
(五) few，a few 表示"幾個；兩三個；不多"。
Eg. I"d like to say a few words about it．
對這事我想說兩句。
Eg. every few minutes (hours， days)
每兩三分鐘(小時，天)
Eg. There is so much to do that these few people can hardly cope with it．
這么多事情這兩三個人真干不了。
(六) either表示"兩者之中任何一個"，用于否定句、疑問句和肯定句。
Eg. I believe either method will work．
我看兩種方法中的那一種都行。
Eg. Have you seen either of the two students?
你看見兩個學生之中任何一個了嗎?
Eg. Either of them knows English．
他們兩人任何一個都懂英語。
(七) neither表示"兩者都不"。
Eg. In neither case can I agree.
兩種情形我都不能同意。
Eg. Neither of them wants to stop for a rest．
他們倆人誰也不愿意停下來休息。
(八) between表示"兩者之間；彼此之間"。
Eg. Do you know the difference between the two verbs "bring" and "take"?
你知道"bring"和"take"這兩個動詞之間的區別嗎?
Eg. The Mediterranean Sea is between Europe and Africa.
地中海位于歐非兩洲之間。
(九) bi-=twice，two; 表示"二；兩；雙；重"。
bilingual 講兩國語言的 bilateral 雙邊的
bimonthly 每兩月的 biannual 一年兩次的
"兩"的其它譯法還有：
Eg. He cut the apple in half．
他把蘋果切成了兩半。
Eg. It"s all right with me whether I go or not．
我去不去兩可。
Eg. He"s had drop too much．
他多喝了兩盅。
Eg. I feel it hard to please either party．
我感到兩頭為難。
